On July 25, 2022, a major order came into force in France, setting precise rules regarding safety and technical provisions for temporary and demountable structures.

Whether you are a manufacturer, installer or operator, you are necessarily concerned by this order.

It applies to temporary installations such as:

  • demountable stands;
  • stairs;
  • walkways;
  • scaffolding;
  • towers;
  • stages.

The list of elements concerned can be found on the government website.

Note: an order published on September 30, 2022 completes the provisions taken by the first one in the context of the 2024 Olympic Games. It provides for specific safety rules and installation requirements for service providers involved in the organization of the 2024 Olympics.

Within this new regulation, one article particularly caught our attention and that of the profession: Article 9 which concerns the marking of the demountable assembly.

Decryption and answers in this article.

Article 9 and marking requirements

Marking Objectives

The marking of demountable assemblies aims to guarantee the traceability and identification of the constituent elements of the structure. This measure allows operators, competent authorities and control bodies to ensure that the structures comply with the requirements of the order and to facilitate the monitoring of their maintenance and conformity.

Information to include on the marking

This information must be legible, durable and affixed to the demountable element in an irremovable manner.

Here is the required information:

  • the name or logo of the manufacturer, importer or supplier;
  • the year of manufacture or first entry into service of the assembly;
  • the product reference.

Meeting the requirements

To comply with this article, it is therefore necessary to move towards a solution that will allow collecting enough information, that this information can be updated and easily accessible.

A mobile SaaS solution makes it possible to answer each of these points:

  • the application centralizes and allows direct access to information and documentation;
  • the QR code meets the requirements of readability and accessibility;
  • label printing guarantees durability.

Note that this solution will allow during design checks (either by a body approved by the ministry in charge of construction, or by an accredited body) to instantly access the required information.

How to act?

Whether you are directly impacted by this order or simply concerned about mastering the tracking of your equipment and works, this can be a good opportunity to think about digital.

Integrating a unique identification of your parts through a digital environment will allow you to track their life cycle ensuring their:

  • Location
  • Condition
  • Conformity
  • Availability
